What is Croup ?

Croup is a disorder which characterized by  inflammation of the larynx and  upper respiratory airway.it causes cough, stridor and secretion of mucus.children with croup have barking cough which very special sign of Croup.Most commonly viral organisms causing croup but in some case may cause due to bacterial agents

Bacterial infection may lead to life –threatening stridor which need to immediately emergency treatment and hospitalization.

Treatment of Croup

Most viral croup is self-limited.stridor resolve in 3-5 days.with the using bronchidilators and humidified air at night and with good hydration.Cases with hypoxia should be treated with oxygen and using inhale nebulized epinephrine.
